A hold isn’t a brand word we liked the sound of. It’s a picture of what we’re trying to build: a family stronghold where faith leads, work has dignity, and freedom is practiced — not just posted about.
In older language, a hold was a fortified place. Not a castle for show. A place that keeps what matters safe while the weather turns outside. That’s how we’re using it. Caer Ryderic is our name for that work. We’re a Christian family walking toward a self-sustaining life — real food, skilled hands, less dependence on brittle systems, and a clearer line between the household and the world’s noise.
We don’t pretend we’ve arrived. We’re in transition. Every day is a choice: drift with the culture, or take one more step toward the Lord. Jesus taught us to pray to the Father. So we keep our worship there — one God, no idols, no personality cults dressed up as faith. The Constitution matters to us too, not as a substitute for Scripture, but as a covenant of liberty worth defending in this country we love.
What does a hold look like in ordinary life? Meals cooked from real ingredients. Skills passed down instead of outsourced. Debt resisted. Work done with our own hands when we can. Content that points homeward, not toward applause. When someone fuels the hold — a purchase, a gift, a share — they’re not buying a vibe. They’re helping a family keep building.
If you’re tired of worldliness wearing a friendly face, you’re not alone. Stay with us. We’ll keep writing what we’re learning as we build.
